Where silver shadows roam, and puppies are raised with heart.
Here at Countryside Weimaraners, we are passionate about breeding healthy, happy, and well-socialized Weimaraners. We are a small family-run kennel located in the beautiful Sacramento Valley. Our journey began almost forty years ago when we started breeding Yellow Labradors—a breed we still hold close to our hearts. Over time, we were drawn to the elegance, intelligence, and loyal nature of the Weimaraner, and we have never looked back.
Family-Raised Dogs with Heart
At Countryside Weimaraners, our dogs aren’t just pets; they are family. From the moment they’re born, our Weimaraner puppies are loved, handled, and raised right in the middle of our home life. They grow up surrounded by the everyday rhythm of family living—cuddles on the couch, kids playing in the yard, bedtime routines, and kitchen chaos—and they are included in it all.
Our dogs don’t live in kennels or get “rotated through”—they live with us, travel with us, nap under our feet, and follow us from room to room. They are part of birthday parties, camping trips, lazy Sundays, and every part of the joy (and noise!) that comes with a big, loving family.
My wife, our children, and now even our grandchildren all play an active role in caring for and socializing with the dogs. Whether it’s feeding time, grooming, early training, or just playing fetch in the yard, everyone pitches in—because these dogs aren’t just bred here… they’re raised with us.
Why We Choose Weimaraners
Weimaraners have a rare combination of beauty, brains, and heart. Their sleek silver-gray coats and expressive eyes might be the first thing you notice, but it’s their affectionate nature, goofy spirit, and deep loyalty that make them unforgettable.
Nicknamed the “Gray Ghost,” these dogs earned their haunting moniker from their stealthy grace, silvery coats, and ability to quietly shadow their humans wherever they go—always present, always watching, always by your side.
Many of our dogs come from strong hunting lines and have a natural drive for field work—they love the challenge and thrive with purpose. But even if hunting isn’t your thing, Weimaraners are just as happy to hike, run, explore, and travel with you. They’re always up for the next adventure, no matter what it looks like.
These dogs are happiest when they’re active and included in your daily life. Whether it's chasing tennis balls in the yard, splashing through streams, or sprinting full speed across an open field, they bring endless energy and enthusiasm to every moment.
One of the most remarkable things about Weimaraners is their intelligence. They are quick learners, intuitive problem-solvers, and often one step ahead of you. This brainpower makes them highly trainable, which is why Weimaraner training is essential. It also means they need mental stimulation, consistency, and engagement to thrive. Boredom is not their friend! Puzzle games, obedience work, and even learning new tricks keep them sharp and happy.
Weimaraners are known for their loyal, energetic, and intelligent temperament. They form strong bonds with their people and thrive on attention, structure, and activity. Because of their intelligence and sensitivity, early socialization and consistent training are strongly encouraged. We highly recommend formal obedience training, as it not only strengthens the bond between dog and owner but also helps Weimaraners become confident, well-mannered companions for life.
And speaking of those eyes—our Weimaraner puppies are born with bright blue eyes, which slowly transition to a stunning amber or blue-gray as they grow. It’s a small glimpse into how these dogs transform, both in looks and personality, as they mature into devoted companions.
